Dr. Farid Vaezi
Dr Vaezi leads technology development and process engineering projects, translating R&D results and early concepts to tangible engineering designs and cost-effective and sustainable solutions. He also develops scale-up methodologies and design criteria for key unit operations, including adsorption, and leads process engineering for pilot, demo and commercial plant design and deployment.
Farid is a seasoned chemical engineer and technology leader with over two decades of experience in chemical, oil & gas, mineral processing, industrial water and waste treatment industries. Prior to 不良研究所, Farid held senior technology leadership and SME roles at Suncor Energy; listed in the Fortune Global 500, and Teck Resources; a top-tier Canadian mining company, where he led innovation, technology development, and scale-up programs. At Teck, he played a key role in advancing and scaling technologies to treat mine-impacted waters as part of a $6.4B mine water treatment program. He has led more than a dozen聽pilot and demo projects and聽played key roles in the scale-up of five complex flowsheets from lab to commercial-scale plants.
Farid combines strong technical depth with business acumen, enabling him to evaluate and advance technologies and drive strategic decisions. His leadership style emphasizes collaboration, data-driven decisions, and disciplined execution.
Farid received his BSc in Chemical Engineering from Sahand University of Technology, MSc from Amirkabir University of Technology in Iran and Ph.D. from the University of Alberta, Canada.
Fun Fact: Farid enjoys reading about philosophy of mind, hiking in the mountains, and cooking. He is an amateur vocalist and dancer and has performed on a few stages.
